Cedric Cheung-Lau is a filmmaker, cinematographer, and lighting director based in occupied Lenapehoking (New York City, USA).
He spent nearly a decade developing his first feature film, The Mountains are a Dream that Call to Me, which had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival 2020. Prior to that, he directed a short, “Topography of a Hotel,” that premiered at the 2015 Slamdance Film Festival.
His cinematography has been showcased in films that have shown at Cannes, Berlin, Clermont-Ferrand, Tribeca, AFI Film Fest, and many others. Most recently, he was awarded Best Cinematography in a US Narrative Film at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival for his work on Lorraine Molina Jones and Cristian Carretero's Esta Isla.
He is currently developing his second feature, tentatively tited Methusaleh, which was recently shortlisted for the 2025 Creative Capital Award.
